Promises for the New Year (597 promises so far)

  1. Praying for peace, justice and dignity for all God’s children

  2. To remember always that I can’t stay silent when people’s human rights are being damaged and to act accordingly.

  3. I promise to continue to to speak out as much as I am able, against any injustice, but particularly that perpetrated by the Israeli government and army against the Palestinians. And I will continue to try and play whatever small part I can in the seemingly hopeless quest for a just peace in Israel/Palesistine.
    Sylvia Cohen

  4. I promise to support the courageous Jews around the world, most especially those in the US, whose commitment to justice and love have led them to speak out against the occupation of Palestine and the horrors which have befallen the Palestinian people. They are true prophets and messengers of God. may they be blessed.

  5. I promise to thank everyone I see, strangers, friends or family, who have courageously made a public stand for peace–particularly in Palestine. I promise to live in peace locally and support peace internationally. I promise to continue to feel first and think second–for all those whose lives are severely impacted by opression and occupation.

  6. i promise to do anything for peace and justice in israel, palestine, turkey; the whole world…

  7. I promise to work towards repairing the world (tikkun olam) and to perform mitzvots of all sorts in my daily life. I promise not to turn my cheek from the oppression of Palestinians in Israel and to support liberation of Palestine, as it belongs in the long list of historical traditions of Jewish struggles for social justice. I promise to recognize the interconnectedness of the work I do in my community and the Jewish-led movements for change that came before me and the worldwide struggles for peace and justice.

  8. I promise to help fulfill the dream of peace & justice for all people. I promise to share my dream with others so the word can spread that peace & justice for Israel & Palestine is the only solution. I will pray everyday for my dream to come true.

  9. I promise that I will always fight despotism and injustice and that I will never use violence to do so.

    María Fernández Ache
    Spain

  10. I hope to see a new year where Israel and Palestine find a solution to the problems which cause them and us so much sadness.

  11. To reaffirm a queer Jewish voice for peace

  12. I promise to continue to pray often for Israel/Palestine and to support in whatever way I can, efforts to bring about true justice and peace for all Israelis and Palestinians in that troubled land.

  13. I promise to continue support for all people seeking peace, protecting the earth and people from further destruction. I carry a special prayer for the Palestinians, and appreciation for the losses of the Jewish people. The governments of the US and Israel must be stopped, and our voices must be heard.

  14. As a grandmother, I promise to keep my family informed in all up to date work JVP do for justice in the world. It is education that is the key to peace for all human kind. Shanah Tovah. Happy New Year.

  15. TO STAND WITH JVP AND OTHERS DEDICATED TO PEACE AND JUSTICE,
TO LEARN MORE ABOUT WHAT JUDAISM, ISLAM AND CHRISTIANITY HAVE TO TEACH ABOUT SOCIAL JUSTICE AND TO BRING THIS MESSAGE TO OTHERS,
TO NOT BE DISCOURAGED BY THE LOUD VOICES OF BIGOTRY AND IGNORANCE, KNOWING THAT THEY, LIKE THE PSALMIST REMINDS US, ARE “SET ON A SLIPPERY PLACE” AND WILL BE SWEPT AWAY IN AN INSTANT…

  16. I promise to keep on having hope, even when Palestinians are faced with hopelessness, because I am learning from them that you must have hope.

  17. HUMAN RIGHTS, ANIMAL RIGHTS @ JUSTICE NOW!

    SPEAK UP @ BE HEARD!

  18. To participate as a new JVP member in last Saturday’s NYC 9/11 procession in support of the Park15 “Cordoba” Muslim cultural center prompts a feeling that we CAN make a difference in today’s wranglings—in our own political hotbeds and internationally. What a beautifully diverse turnout we were part of! Folks of diverse Christian sects like mine, totally secular workers, immigrants from India and the Near East, recent and long-time New Yorkers, all ready to stand together noontime hours in support of COMMUNITY. I must write my Congressman, and reach other doubters about the Israeli-Palestinian talks.

  19. I believe very much in grasroot movements as JVP, Avaaz and all the others that stand up for Human Rights, Justice for all People and Nonviolence.
I promise therefore to continue supporting you and work for these values myself with my own networks -

  20. I promise to pray for peace and justice at there

  21. My promise
Not to judge people only by hearsayings
To be an intermediare between people
To educate people in the purpose to understand eachother

To support people in the ME Area fighting for acceptance of eachother

  22. Not to be silent in the face of injustice.

  23. I will continue to support JVP in their work for justice and peace for all Israelis and Palestinians. We do have new HOPE and a new WORLD is indeed coming.

  25. Peace with justice, for Israeli Jews, Christians, Muslims and other peoples of faith and spirituality in Israel-Palestine.
    Ken Cornet & Joe Mustich,

    Derek

  31. This is my promise – to do my best to see people as individuals who are one and all children of God. No infant is born with hate in his or her heart. We have to work very hard to recapture the innocence we have as children when the world is new and we are so excited to be in it. Love forms the strings of the universe that bind us all together at the quantum level. It is why we are here and to not acknowledge it by our actions of hate or intolerance is to go against the truth of our existence.

  32. I promise to pray for peace between Israelis and Palestinians in the coming year, please God this may happen

  33. I promise to work towards a harmonious future for all.

  34. I promise to take every opportuity to inform others of the JVP project for Palestine and encourage their support.

  35. it is my deep hope that i will see peace between palestinians and jews in my lifetimei promise to hold that in my heart
    may it be so

  36. No termina mi año. No soy judía.

  37. Shanah Tovah dear friends. I promise to continue with the struggle and to try to do more; to be as brave in my commitment as you at JVP are, and never to give up, whatever happens in the future. I pray for progress and hope that the very slow turning tide will have turned sufficiently in my lifetime for me to see a significant move towards equality for all the peoples of Israel/Palestine. With love

  38. I promise to continue having those difficult discussions with other Jews about Israel’s oppressive policies towards Palestinians.

  39. My name is Anas I am a jordanian citizin of a palestenian origion.
I Wish that this year would bring peace and justice to every one, I wish that the stupid politcicians would come to a reasonable solution that would help everybody on each side to live in peace and honor this year and foreaver.

  40. I promise to give my very best to the work for freedom, social justice and an end to racism and poverty. In this new year I pledge my best efforts and join hand in hand with the rest of the international community who refuse to accept the state of things as they are today. And instead, work and act as if the dream of our ability to be together in peace, harmony and justice prevails.

  41. To pray that God’s shalom will embrace the Israeli-Palestinian relationship so true knowledge of the Lord will cover the earth, at least that part of it, as the waters cover the sea.

  42. I promise to advocate strongly in the US political system:

for truly equitable treatment of Palestine and Israel
for support of talks leading to a just peace for both peoples

against using US tax dollars to finance the Israeli war machine and settlements
against the domination of US politicians by the Israeli lobby.

  43. I promise to continue working for a better understanding between Jews and Palestinians.
I promise to fight for equal civil rights for Jews and Palestinians
I promise to support all Israeli organisations fighting human rights violations of Palestinians
I promise to support refuseniks and Israeli citizens who peacefully protest at some of their government’s policies.
I promise to support the peace negotiations which must include Hamas to have any prospect of succeeding.

    Jewish mother from London

  44. I am a born again Evangelical Christian and in the last three years I have come to understand the plight of the Palestinian people. Thanks to the patience of a lot of non-religious supporters of the Palestinian people’s cause, I came to a place where I had to change my mind about the Zionist State of Israel and it’s treatment of indigenous Palestinians. I can only say how grieved I am inside by the betrayal of the Palestinian people by the Christian Zionist movement. My promise is to never rest until the church regains its mission to the poor and oppressed of the world, in particular those Arabs now living in the prison like Ghettos of the West Bank and Gaza.

  45. This is my promise:

I worship my time, love and compassion to heal my heart and release as much pain in the world around me as I am capable of – peace, love and light to all creatures, plants, stones of mother earth her waters and the heavenly winds. Forgiveness,
    Danielle Marie Armstrong

  47. I PROMISE working for Inter-faith and Inter-Religious peace, harmony and love to make this world a peaceful place to live.
